During this school year 24-25 we are carrying out a project with competence activities in the IES Puente Ajuda of Olivenza called "Sea of Ice 2025". All this is being possible thanks to the collaboration established with the Guidance Department of the same center, in which within the activities of Tutoring and in the subject Educational Attention or workshops at recess, we have framed learning situations that constitute active pedagogical proposals that work various dimensions of learning, including cross-cutting, emotional and artistic themes for the students.
These activities combine disciplines as varied as logistics, mental health, culture and science, offering students a unique experience that fosters both their personal, social and academic development. The initiative includes practical workshops on teamwork strategies, managing emotions in extreme situations and the importance of resilience in the face of challenges. In addition, cultural and informative aspects are explored, with talks, radio programs, practical activities that connect the world of adventure with scientific training, personal and emotional development of human beings, providing a multidisciplinary approach that enriches the students' understanding of their environment, other realities and cultures.
The cognitive and intellectual benefits for the students are evident; meaningful learning is promoted through the practical application of knowledge in a realistic and dynamic context. Through interaction with the person, the adventurer, students can develop key skills in problem solving, decision making under pressure and team collaboration. These activities also strengthen the emotional resilience of students, who learn to face and overcome difficulties in a safe and supported environment.
Likewise, the approach of the activity helps to create a network of collaboration with the environment (Ethnographic Museum of Olivenza, Provincial Council of Badajoz, Spanish Geographical Society, Caja Badajoz Foundation,...), fostering the connection with the community and promoting a functional learning that not only reverts in academic training, but also in the personal and social development of the students and constitutes a motivating and functional proposal for teachers from which they can channel different activities and embed the knowledge of the curriculum that at the same time are disseminated in networks and channels.
