VISIT TO THE SPANISH EMBASSY IN CANADA

These days in Ottawa, we have lived one of the most special moments of the Sea of Ice 2025 expedition. We were received at the Spanish Embassy in Canada, where we felt a huge institutional and human support.

We would like to express our deepest gratitude to the entire Embassy team. They have been a key support to solve the complex logistics of the expedition and to move forward safely at every step.

Special thanks to His Excellency Ambassador Alfredo Martínez Serrano, Mr. Carlos Ruiz González, Second Headquarters, and Counselor Álvaro Mª de Travesedo de Mora for their hospitality, enthusiasm and unconditional support. Also to Luis, for his patience, closeness and tireless collaboration.

None of this would have been possible without the confidence of the Spanish Geographical Society, which believed in our expedition from day one. Thanks to all its members, and especially to Diego Azqueta and Ángel Barral, for accompanying us on this exciting journey.

It has been an honor to share this meeting also with President John Geiger and the team of the Royal Canadian Geographical Society, to whom we are deeply grateful for the visit to their magnificent facilities, their mention in their headquarters and a gift that we will carry with great pride: the flag of the RCGS, which will fly with us in the Arctic lands.

Thanks also to all the guests invited to the dinner in our honor for their warm welcome. In particular, to the MP for Nunavut, Alam Lingstone, for his words of encouragement and wise counsel, and to Mr. Murray, a great connoisseur of the Arctic, for his approachability and the meaningful gift of an Inuktitut dictionary, which we will carry as a symbol of respect for the communities that inhabit these lands.

With gestures like these, the Sea of Ice 2025 becomes something much bigger than an expedition. It is also a bridge between cultures, an opportunity for international collaboration, and a human adventure that only makes sense thanks to the support and generosity of so many people.

Thank you, from the bottom of my heart.
